Thematic expertise:  Professional experience as diplomat on human rights including gender equality, security cooperation including on the Women, Peace and Security agenda, strategic partnerships / development cooperation, business, trade and cultural cooperation.

Geographic expertise:  Europe, Asia/China, Africa.

Languages: Very good knowledge of English, German, Swedish.  Good knowledge of Danish and Norwegian and some French.

A. Edda Jökulsdóttir currently serving as Special Envoy for Gender Equality and acting director for Africa at the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Iceland. Edda has held various positions at the MFA in the past 25 years on Strategic Partnerships in development cooperation, international business and culture cooperation, and as Deputy Head of Mission at Iceland’s Embassies in Beijing and Berlin. Appointed as Special Advisor to the Minister for Education and Culture from 2019 – 2021. Special political advisor to the Ambassador of the United States at the Embassy of the United States in Reykjavik in 1997-1998.  Holds a BA in Political Science from the University of Iceland, and an MA in Global Political Economy and International Affairs from Sussex University, United Kingdom in 1997.
