Dr. Heidi Huuhtanen is a conflict resolution practitioner specialized in the Middle East with over 20 years of experience. She has engaged with conflict stakeholders for example on national agendas, reconciliation processes and inclusion in multiple processes. She comes from private diplomacy background, having worked for peace mediation expert organizations. She is currently a Senior Advisor at the Berghof Foundation in Germany. She formerly acted as a Programme Director, Head of Middle East and North Africa and Acting Head of Sub-Saharan Africa at CMI-Martti Ahtisaari Centre in Finland. She has also worked on policy analysis and planning directing a Middle East project at the Finnish Institute of International Affairs. She has also lectured on conflict resolution and the Middle East. She has a PhD on Middle East International Relations from the University of Durham, UK.
