Mariann Hagen is currently Deputy Head of Mission of the Norwegian Embassy in Slovakia. Ms. Hagen has served as a Norwegian diplomat since 2004 with postings in Bangkok, Harare and Oslo. Between 2012 and 2017 she served in the United Nations as Director D1 of the Office of the Special Adviser to the Secretary General on Myanmar (OSASG) and head of the OSASG office in Yangon. In Myanmar, she represented the UN in the national peace negotiations as the only international observer next to China. She has had responsibilities for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in a number of countries and areas with a particular focus on peace and reconciliation, including Myanmar, Middle East, China, Cambodia, Thailand, Philippines, Vietnam and Zimbabwe. Ms. Hagen has a degree in media and international/Asian politics from the University of Oslo and has worked and studied in a number of Asian countries for more than a decade.
