Merete Lundemo has served for more than 30 years as a Norwegian diplomat in Europe, Latin America, Asia and Africa. She was Ambassador to Abidjan, Dhaka and Addis Abeba as well as Special Representative for the Sahel, before assuming her post as Special Envoy for Education in Crisis and Conflict in 2022. Her experience covers many themes in both the multi- and bilateral fields, and includes working as a special adviser to the President of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, as well as international assignments as an election observer.
