Pia Horttanainen Croxford is Co-Founder and Senior Adviser at Myelin LLC. She holds over 20 years of experience as a counsellor and senior advisor at the private sector, EU Missions, the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Finland, and the Finnish Defence Forces. She has experience in working on-site in conflict affected and high-risk areas such as Afghanistan and Somalia.
Pia’s main areas of expertise are security sector reforms in post-conflict and transitional contexts, private sector due diligence in conflict affected and high risk areas, negotiations and agreements, rule of law and anti-corruption, neuroscience aspects and applications to conflict resolution and negotiations, risk mitigation and crisis management, mediation, development and humanitarian aid. She has decades of experience also as lecturer and trainer and she has published articles on conflict contexts and the security sector. Pia holds master’s degree in law (University of Lapland), degree of Master of Advanced Studies ETH in Mediation in Peace Processes (ETH, Zurich) and has conducted studies in neuropsychology and cognitive psychology (University of Helsinki).
