Siri Borgen is a diplomat with the Norwegian Foreign Service currently serving as the deputy of the cross-sectional Afghanistan-team. During the intra-Afghan peace process, she maintained a special focus on the inclusion and meaningful participation of women in the Afghan peace efforts. After the collapse of the peace talks, she has continued to work with international partners on creating a space for Afghan dialogue under the Taliban regime. Ms Borgen will be the coordinator for the Oslo Forum 2023 edition. Prior to entering the section for peace and reconciliation in the Ministry she was posted to Abu Dhabi (2016-2020) and Shanghai (2012-2016). Siri joined the Ministry in 2008 as a diplomatic trainee and had her career focus initially on China and human rights issues, involving a responsibility for the Norway’s human rights dialogue with China, before turning her attention to regional tensions in the Gulf. She graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Asian Studies from University of Western Australia in 2004 and completed her master’s degree in international Relations at Dublin City University in 2006.
