Ms. Tanja Viikki has a master’s degree in international relations, and she has more than 15 years of professional peacebuilding and conflict transformation experience. She has worked in conflict and post-conflict contexts in Afghanistan and Kosovo. Between 2001-2007 she was based in Pakistan and Afghanistan and worked in the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Finland, in the office of the European Union Special Representative in Afghanistan and in the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA). Between 2008-2010 she worked in the European Union Rule of Law Mission in Kosovo (EULEX Kosovo). Viikki has also worked as a researcher in the Crisis Management Centre (CMC Finland) focusing on issues related to security sector reform, civilian-military relations and comprehensive approach to building peace. In the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Finland she has worked as a development policy adviser focusing on development and security nexus and development cooperation in conflict and fragile contexts. From 2017 onwards Tanja Viikki has been working in Felm as senior peace and reconciliation adviser focusing, for example on conflict transformation, bottom-up dialogue processes, locally led peacebuilding/shifting power, and restorative justice/approach.
